2010 Majors Cup Champions

Congratulations to Gold Coast F.C. for winning the 2010 Majors Cup! After narrowly being eliminated from playoff contention on the last game of the season, the clubs great second half was rewarded with a berth to the Majors Cup tournament. This opportunity did not go unwasted as the Suns recorded a 4-1-0 record including eliminating two fellow BSL clubs (St. Louis and Union S.C.) in the process. Gold Coast also took over the league record book for most Majors Cup wins.

Nothing Comes Close to the Golden Coast.

Suns Win Championship!

2010 MAJORS CUP CHAMPIONSHIP
GOLD COAST        4
SEATTLE           2

The final match of the 2010 season saw the BSL's Gold Coast F.C. captured its first major title by defeating the Sounders late Saturday night. Coming into the Final, Seattle was on a dominate roll defeating everyone in their path with an onslaught of points. However, this weekend the Sounders could only muster a goal from Riley (assisted by Jaqua). This left an opportunity for the Suns to take control of the match which they did on route to a 4-2 win. Dominic Oduro got the scoring started for Gold Coast, Nick LaBrocca gave the Suns the lead and Logan Pause added the insurance score. None of the games on Sunday's MLS schedule involve players in this match.

Neither club could get much going in the score sheet, but it was Oduro's late goal on Sunday which propelled the Suns into the Semi's. The Cure scored first on Thursday with a Buddle goal, but then failed to score again the remainder of the game. Gold Coast will now play California rival Union S.C. next week.

The 2010 BSL Champs bested the 2009 BSL Champs to advance into the Semi's of Majors Cup. Union S.C. got scores from 4 players, but it was Wondolowski's brace that would prove to be the difference in the match. Union S.C. will play Gold Coast next week.
