Lions Launch A Club Website

Future newcomers to the Bigtime Soccer League will be hard pressed to match the first impression that Alliance F.C. has begun with. After debuting a magnificent logo a few days ago, the new participant has created a beautiful blog site for his fantasy club. Check it out as it is now listed in the BSL Network with all the other team sites. You can always tell who really enjoys the sport of soccer and who is just dabbling in it. The owner of Alliance F.C., which the Commissioner has nicknamed "the Lions" really looks like a full time fan of the game.

Monarchs Move To Texas! Sign Henry as 2nd DP

The first ever BSL rebranding and relocation was announced today in San Antonio, Texas. For several weeks sources from the Montgomery County camp were teasing fans that a major announcement was forth coming. Gone is the club nicknamed "the Monarchs" and enter the Alamo City Battle SC. Details about the changes can be found in the new website

All of the Monarchs history including the 2009 BSL Championship are being retained.

Wearing the new Alamo City kit was Thierry Henry who was announced as the club 2nd Designated Player for 2011.

Montgomery County Lock's Up Ferreira As A Designated Player

One of the reasons the Monarchs had a great 2nd half to the 2010 season and earned the top seed for the Majors Cup was because of David Ferreira. His stellar play with both goals and assists was worth the price of admission. Well, Mr. Ferreira will be staying with Montgomery County after the club declared him a designated player.

A name change?
Also coming down the pike is the anticipated announcement that Montgomery County (the 2009 BSL Champs) will be making a brand change on Dec 31st. Is it a relocation as some have speculated, or more simple changes.

Alliance F.C. Unveils its Crest

The next in a series of announcements from the BSL's newest club was unveiled today. The Alliance F.C. crest features a dark green and black shield with a pair of lions on each side and the color black was specified as the primary color of the club. "The Chancellor" also released a heads up that the clubs blogger site will be up and running soon.

Interest has been expressed to the Commissioner, but no confirmations have been made.

Alliance F.C. is Approved to Join League in 2011

It might seem a little early in the offseason to be adding new clubs, but keep in mind the MLS will begin training in 4 short weeks. Then there is preseason. Also the BSL needs to replace the N.Y. Greeks and St. Louis Cure. Plus there is a desire to expand by 2 more clubs for a total of 10.

Joining the league in 2011 is the Alliance Football Club. Currently only the club's name has been presented to the Commissioner. The remaining details have yet to be ironed out. According to "The Chancellor" of Alliance F.C., the club will unveil a logo and website shortly.

Gunners Not Letting Montero Go Anywhere

The C.D. Gunners announced the clubs first Designated Player selection for the upcoming 2011 season. The Colombian Fredy Montero was signed on for a third straight season with the BSL club. His stats tell the entire story. The youngster has produced in both 2009 and 2010 and with his new MLS deal that keeps him in the States, he can concentrate on Football and perhaps getting the Gunners back into the BSL playoffs.

A 3rd DP?Sources from the Gunners have alluded to a possible desire to obtain a third Designated Player, although no action has been taken.

Gateway United Keeps its Captain

A fews days after the first of the 2011 Designated Players made news, Gateway United has announced that "Captain America", Landon Donovan will be remaining with the only BSL club he has ever known. The Saints got good news this week that Donovan has decided to forgo another loan to the EPL and rest up for the 2011 season opener. Landon's goal total fell in 2010, but he still managed a healthy amount of assists. No word was made on Gateway United's other DP selection.

Chris Wondolowski Protected By Blues After Offseason Trade

The league champions got confirmation today that the club will be playing with the maximum of 3 Designated Players for the 2011 season. In the trade, Union Southern California releases its first round draft pick to the Gold Coast.

At the conclusion of the trade Union S.C. made the announcement that the clubs 2010 season MVP, Chris Wondolowski, the Golden Boot winner, will be protected as a Designated Player. The clubs other DP selections will be announced at a later date.
