Lions Latest Press Conference Equally Impressive

Alliance FC held a press conference today to unveil the clubs kit. Just like the stellar crest and evenly impressive website, this club's image continues to be well thought out. "The league office continues to be completely impressed by this owner. The first impression is outstanding. Everything is 10 stars so far. Since the initial announcements, the attention to detail is outstanding. The clubs look, the clubs signings, the clubs website posts, and now the clubs kit and sponsor. All are outstanding. A very welcomed addition to the BSL" said the Commissioner at the press conference.

As has been evident with everything the Chancellor has done to date, Black is the primary color and Green is accompanied by it. The jersey sponsor is the "Foundation to change the World Cup bid selection" with a cross out of the 2022 in white. Once again credit must be given to David (Hail to the King) for assisting in bringing most everyones kits to glory.

Back In Blue: DeRosario Staying With Union SC

Union SC has confirmed that it has come to an agreement with Dwayne DeRosario as the clubs third Designated Player, a slot it acquired after a trade with Gold Coast FC. This concludes the pre-draft selection process for the BSL Champions. DeRosario will be joined with past teammates Chris Wondolowski and Conor Casey. "There are a lot of players on the radar (both on the current roster and on other rosters) that will be sought after as draft selections for Union SC. With any luck these players will be available when the time comes." said the Blues owner. "Union S.C. always has a target on its back. It goes with the territory when your owner is who he is. But, trying to repeat will make the club an even bigger target in 2011."

PNW Rangers Complete the Circle: First Kick Now Revealed

The final BSL expansion club is in. Please welcome the Pacific Northwest Rangers. The owner has introduced a crest featuring a familiar green to the Oregon area. Originally, the league had plans to expand from the 8 clubs it had in seasons 1 and 2, to a total of 10 clubs. The rational was with the additions of Sea, Phil, Port, Van, to the MLS (& Mont next year), this league could handle more of its own clubs. However, after consideration, the Commissioners office wanted to finally have a balanced schedule. With 11 clubs, everyone plays each other twice in the 20 game regular season. A BSL first to have it balanced!!! What this means is each club will have "2 bye weeks" in the schedule. A 22 week season instead of the usual 20 week regular season. Those of you who like friendlies (like in the past) can schedule them during your 2 bye weeks.
Playoffs 4 clubs instead of 3 clubs
To keep things interesting, 1 more playoff spot will be available. No longer will the Honors Trophy champion (regular season winner) get a bye to the BSL Final. #1 will play #4 in 2011, and #2 will continue to play #3 like before. Based on previous history, this might actually help the first place team do something in the playoffs.
Majors Cup staying the same
This is not changing. Top 4 second half clubs are still the ones that qualify. For those of you unfamiliar with Majors Cup. Its a 2nd chance to salvage your season. See the RULES on it.
First Kick games are announced
Now that all the clubs are confirmed. The first games are available. The rest of the schedule will come out after the MLS releases their dates. The 4 MLS opponents for Majors Cup 2011 will also be determined once the MLS schedule is released.

The Partnership Puts Teal Bunbury in Pennsylvania

__________________________
CD Gunners: obtain 4th round pick
Stoners FC: obtain T. Bunbury(KC)
__________________________
The Partnership group in Pennsylvania completed the final paperwork on the latest deal in the BSL. Stoners FC is getting the young and talented Teal Bunbury from Capital District in exchange for a 4th round draft pick. The Stoners are now out of expansion team predraft options and have to wait until the official draft begins on March 1st. Meanwhile the Gunners are not quite out of options, but for all realistic purposes appear to be. The draft roundup for "the Partnership" has the club drafting 8th in rounds 2-3, then rounds 5-14. The Gunners will draft #3 in rounds 1-11, and #8 in round 4.

Saints Remain Consistent to Loyalty Trends

Gateway United has built a reputation or two in the Bigtime Soccer League. The owner is very competitive. The owner is very passionate about this league and being a champion. Most of all the owner is very loyal to players that have done well for him. It was obvious in last years draft and it looks like that trend will continue. The selection of Danny Mwanga is proof positive that the Saints haven't forgetten how many points Mwanga got in the later stages of the 2010 season. It may have been too late to make the playoffs or the Majors Cup, but if Mwanga can play the same way in 2011, Gateway United may return to its 2009 form.

Blues Unveil New Kit and Sponsor for Third Season

Union Southern California, the flagship of the BSL, is proud to announce a new kit for the 2011 season. "There were a few reasons behind the change. First, it has been 2 years with the original kit. Second, we're nicknamed the Blues, but were more white than blue. Third, the club has a new sponsor since winning the BSL Cup." said the Blues owner. The new sponsor is H20. The sponsor is the leader in the drink market. A healthy alternative to sodas and other sugar products. Union SC is proud to have such a great sponsor. The terms of the deal are undisclosed, but has been reported as being the largest in league history to date.
"The Rainbows" Enter the Network
In other news, the Bigtime Soccer League's 10th club joined "the Network" this morning. You can find the website at http://www.hurainbows.blogspot.com/ The owner of the club has already nicknamed the club "the Rainbows".

Andy Najar Sent to Alliance

___________________________
ALAMO CITY: obtains 2nd rd pick
ALLIANCE FC: obtains A. Najar
___________________________
The owner at Alliance kept true to his word and completed another transaction. After soliticing several clubs, the Lions chose Andy Najar as its 2nd player. In exchange, Alamo City will be getting another 2nd round pick. Alliance is now maxed out of pre draft options. The clubs draft selections are now set. The Lions will now pick 7th in rounds 3 through 14. Meanwhile Alamo City isn't technically maxed out of pre draft options. Alamo City has signed 2 DP's and traded away another roster player, but can you guess what small option is left? While unlikely, Alamo City could technically trade away its 1st round pick to Burud Town for its 2nd DP slot that has yet to traded. The Stags disclosed it was not keeping 2 DP's this season. Why is it unlikely. Well, Alamo City has the #1 pick. Hardly a benefit to obtain a 3rd DP. Alamo City is scheduled to pick 1st in rounds 1 through 11 (and 7th in round 2)

Hillcrest Debuts A Simple Look

Hillcrest United has released the clubs crest. The simple style may tell us a thing or two about the clubs owner. (or it may not) The letters "h.u." appear centered and both lowercase. Originally the club stated its name was to be called F.C. Hillcrest.

Second City Website Now in the BSL Network

Second City SC has officially launched the clubs website today. You can find it at http://www.secondcitysc.blogspot.com and the owner has released the clubs kits as well. The primary is dark blue with white trim, while the secondary is red with white trim. The "Stars" as the commissioner has nicknamed the club, have chosen Kabletown to be the jersey sponsor.

Stoners Acquire Player: Trade for Sebastian LeToux

__________________________
UNION SC: obtains 1st round pick
STONERS FC: obtains S. LeToux
__________________________
The expansion clubs of the BSL are not sitting on their hands waiting. Like "the Chancellor" at Alliance FC before them, "the Partnership" for Stoners FC is taking part in the Pre-Draft Option of the BSL Rules for new clubs and has spawned a trade with Union SC. The terms of the deal have Sebastian LeToux moving to Pennsylvania in exchange for the Stoners first round pick. Union SC is now maxed out of all pre draft deals having done the full allowed allotment of Designated Players and trading a player to an expansion club. Any other player acquistions expansion club owners may desire will have to be with other BSL club owners.
Incase you didn't know?
Gold Coast is still eligible to trade with an expansion club. why? The previous trade released was for the clubs 2nd DP slot and not an expansion pre-draft selection.

The Mighty Casey: Blues Retain the All Star Forward

With the clubs 2nd Designated Player option, Union SC has chosen to protect Conor Casey in its championship roster. Casey scored 13 goals in 2010 and added 6 assists as well. A major factor in the decision to retain Casey's contract was due to the fact that he gets so many penalty kick opportunties on gameday. "There were times when he wasn't playing at his best, but he would show up on the boxscore with a goal anyway. Those PK's are a life saver sometimes" said the Blues manager. Union SC still has one more DP selection coming thanks to an early trade with Gold Coast FC.

Ching Traded During the Off Season to a New Club

_______________________________
GOLD COAST: obtains 1st round pick
ALLIANCE: obtains Brian Ching
_______________________________
It was no secret that Gold Coast FC was looking to completely revamp its roster. After exploring every option available, the Suns owner needed a new ownership group to complete the task of having 3 first round picks in 2011. The Lions have agreed to release its first pick in order to obtain the rights to Brian Ching. It is up for debate which club will benefit most from this deal. Ching had some injuries last year but is a player capable of putting up numbers and could be a real benefit to Alliance FC. The Suns have the draft picks the club wanted but still have no guarantees any players drafted will be successful.
