WEEK 19: The Races Remain Tight

ALAMO CITY 7 BURUD TOWN 5 - The game of the week features two clubs in the thick of their own contention races and they did not disappoint. Both offenses went back and forth throughout the weekend, but it was Felipe Martins 3 assist that would prove to be too much for the Stags to handle. The win was huge for Alamo City as the club has caught Pennsylvania for first place with only 3 games remaining. Meanwhile, Burud Town's defeat knocked the Stags out of the top 4 in the MCQ, although the clubs APG is still tied with the CD Gunners in that table. BOXSCORE: Battle- Henry(G Y), E.Johnson(G A), Martins(A A A), Gruenebaum(SP). Stags-Arrieta(G G), Mattocks(G Y), McInerney(G), Busch(SP).
-
ROSE CITY 5 SECOND CITY 3 - The Flyers looked sharp as 4 players made a score including DiVaio getting his first goal. The Stars did get 2 assist from Brad Davis to keep the game close. The Flyers have a 9 point lead for the BSL playoffs with 3 game left. Since the clubs APG is so low, it is possible that either NYS or CDG could overtake the Flyers should they win out their last matches and Rose City lose their last 3 matches. Also these same clubs are within 3 points of each other in the MCQ. BOXSCORE: Flyers- DiVaio(A G Y), Magee(G), Rosales(A), Saunders(CS). Stars-Davis(A A), Nyarko(A).
-
SPARTANS 4 PENNSYLVANIA 3 - The first place Stoners once again got to experience just how hard it is to beat the Spartans. Trailing 3-1 late Saturday, the New York side got 10 saves from Sean Johnson to tie Pennsylvania. Then on Sunday Sene scored the game winner to prevent the Spartans from another tie and keep the clubs playoff and MCQ hopes alive. The 2 saves points from Johnson is a BSL first. Other Keepers have gotten SP's and clean sheets in the same match, but not 10 saves. The result also put the Stoners in a 40 point deadlock with Alamo City for the Honors Trophy. BOXSCORE: Spartans-Zusi(A), Johnson(SP SP), Sene(G). Stoners- Camilo(A), Keane(A), Kamara(G), Farfan(Y).
-
GATEWAY UNITED 4 ALLIANCE 1 - Playing short of 2 of the clubs Designated Players, the Saints were still able to put up 4 scores and capture the Barium Cup for the second straight year. Gateway maintains its 8 point lead for the last playoff spot. The victory is Gateway United's 40th regular season win all time. Meanwhile the Lions had a tough game with 2 red cards in the match. BOXSCORE: Saints- Salinas(A), Carr(G), Rolfe(G), Mullan(A). Lions-Ching(G), Gordon(R), Cannon(R).
-
CD GUNNERS 5 UNION SC 4 - The Gunners jumped out to a quick lead 3-0 on Friday before Union SC roared back and tied up the match at 4-4 at the conclusion of Saturday action. Freddy Adu's undeserved PK on Sunday was the game winner. Capital District is now in sole possession of 4th place of the MCQ. Also in regards to the Founders Cup, the clubs week 22 match against Alamo City will determine the winner of that cup. However, if both should tie in that match, then Gateway United would be the winner of the Founders Cup. BOXSCORE: Gunners- Morales(A), Saborio(G G), Garcia(A), Adu(G). Blues- Caskey(A), Alonso(G), Arnaud(G), Wondolowski(A Y).
-
GOLD COAST 2 KC QUEST 0 - The Suns avenged an earlier loss to the Quest. Neither club has any playoff or MCQ implications. BOXSCORE: Suns- Mapp(A), Lindpere(A), Bernier(Y). Quest- Hall(CS -1LF). McCarty(Y).

BIDDING WAR: Jon Busch (SJ)

Clubs involved (2): Pennsylvania, Burud Town - It hasn't happened often. VOTE: Multi-Game Options (please vote)

Please vote on any of the 3 options for changes to Multi-Game rule:

Option 1- Position players weekly average is tallied the same with total points for the week averaged out, but the Goal Keeper scoring is changed. The change would be a if a Keeper gets a clean sheet or 5 saves in either game they will receive a point in the boxscore.

Option 2- If a position player plays two games in the same week, his better game that week counts. Example he scores 2 points on Wednesday, and 0 points on Saturday. The Wednesday result counts. Would not be his average anymore. Goal Keepers would also follow this rule. Example: If a keeper has a clean sheet on Wednesday, and does not on Saturday. His clean sheet on Wednesday would count.

Option 3- Make no changes to the Multi-game rules. Both position players and Keepers weekly average counts.

Majority of votes wins! So please vote because if only half the league votes an option might win with a select few making the choice. Let's set a deadline of Sunday after Week 19 Gameday concludes.

BIDDING WAR: Tim Cahill (NYRB) -reposted

Clubs involved (7): Gateway United, Second City, Union SC, Spartans 1612, Alamo City, CD Gunners, Burud Town - SOCCEROOS star Tim Cahill's English Premier League adventure is over after eight years, with the midfielder poised to join Thierry Henry at the New York Red Bulls. Bidding for him will conclude at 5pm (Pacific time) on Wednesday 7/25 using 2012 stats. This is a re-post to fix site.

WEEK 18: Stoners and Battle Clinch Playoff Spots

UNION SC 3 GOLD COAST 3 - The California Cup is going back South after Union SC and Gold Coast finished a hard fought match with a tie. The result hurts both clubs who were in search for maximum points in this match and probably ended any chance either club could have had at any action after week 22. However, the Blues won the aggregate in the season series and bring back the Cup to L.A. in the arguably the fiercist derby in the BSL. BOXSCORE: Blues- R.Johnson(G), Silva(A A), Pappa(Y). Suns-Lindpere(1T), Mapp(1T), Bernier(1T), Larentowicz(Y).
-
GATEWAY UNITED 7 ALAMO CITY 2 - The Founders Cup match and possible playoff preview between the Saints and Battle was never in doubt this week. Gateway United got multiple scores from Beckham, Donovan, and Jackson to win by a 6 point margin and end the Battle's 7 game winning streak. The win gives the Saints an 8 point lead over 5th place in the BSL standings with 4 matches remaining. On the flip side, Alamo City clinched a playoff spot because of the other results around the league. It will be the clubs 2nd time in the playoffs. (other year was 2009). BOXSCORE: Saints- Donovan(2T Y), Beckham(2T), Jackson(2T), Cooper(1T). Battle- Henry(1T), Gruenebaum(CS).
-
PENNSYLVANIA 5 SECOND CITY 2 - The Stoners line-up failure did not hurt a bit, as the offense was still able to compile 5 points that did count to maintain first place in the BSL. The Honors Trophy is the Stoners to lose at this point. In the meantime the partnership will just have to be happy in clinching a playoff spot for the first time. It seems likely that a Majors Cup spot is emininent as well. The Stoners also have the possibility of breaking the APG record. BOXSCORE: Stoners- LeToux(1T - 1LF), Kamara(1T), Espindola(A), Keane(1T), Bruin(1T), MacMath(SP). Stars- B.Davis (2T -1LF), Rimando(CS), Nyarko(Y).

-
ROSE CITY 1 SPARTANS 1 - Even the Flyers could not avoid the tie machine in New York. The last remaining club to not have a tie in the season, could not break the deadlock with the Spartans who now have an unbelieveable 10 ties. A record that could still grow and may never be brokenBOXSCORE: Flyers- M.Chavez(1T), Beitashour(Y), Kimura(Y). Spartans-Juninho(1T), Jewsbury(Y).
-
CD GUNNERS 3 KC QUEST 0 - The Champ's got scores from Saborio and Casey to easily defeat the last place Quest and improve to 7-7-4 on the season. More importantly the Gunners remain in a very tight race in the MCQ. BOXSCORE: Gunners-Saborio(G A), Casey(1T). Quest- None
-
BURUD TOWN 3 ALLIANCE 1 - The Stags got an important 3 points this week to stay in 4th place in the MCQ, but the clubs line up failure was a serious error. In a race as close as it is with the CD Gunners for 4th place in the MCQ, losing an offense point is risky. Currently both clubs have the same APG and only the Stags MOV is keeping the club in 4th place. BOXSCORE: Stags- Nguyen(1T Y -1LF), Robson(1T Y), Richards(1T), Ferreira(1T). Lions- Gordon(1T Y).

Clubs involved (10): Gateway United, Alliance, Union SC, Burud Town, Alamo City, Second City, Gold Coast, Pennsylvania, Spartan 1612, CD Gunners - This proven goal scorer has a record high 10 clubs interested in him. The bidding should be very interesting in terms of how much value a BSL club owner will be willing to release for him. 2012 stats only. Bidding for Miller will conclude at 5pm(Pacific time) on Wednesday 7/18 to allow all time zones a chance to make assessments on the bids being made.

WEEK 17: Pennsylvania Reclaims First Place in BSL

ALAMO CITY 3 ROSE CITY 1 - The Battle got 2 goals from Kris Boyd to avenge an earlier loss in the season to the Flyers and put some distance between the clubs in the race for the Honors Trophy. The victory is the 7th straight (win) for Alamo City, which breaks the BSL record held by the St.Louis Cure back in 2010. However, even with all this good news, Alamo City fell to 2nd place behind Pennsylvania who now owns a better APG. BOXSCORE: Battle- Boyd(G G), Peterson(G), Hamid(R), Henry(Y). Flyers- Saunders(SP), Chavez(Y).
-
UNION SC 5 KC QUEST 2- The sensational Chris Wondolowski scored 4 points to help the Blues get a desperately needed win. Also Union SC was able to go through the entire match without a card. Something that has been plaguing the team to several weeks. BOXSCORE: Blues- Wondolowski(G G G A), Fernandez(G). Quest- Bunbury(G -1LF), Alhassan(A), Hall(CS).
-
PENNSYLVANIA 6 GOLD COAST 3 - Robbie Keane scored 3 points and 3 other starters got into the scoring show as the Stoners extended their unbeaten streak to 7 games. Furthermore, the club moved back into first place with its 6 point performance. BOXSCORE: Stoners- Keane(G G A), LeToux(G), Kamara(A), Bruin(G), Espindola(Y), Renteria(Y). Suns- Lindpere(G), Cummings(G), Frings(1T).
-
GATEWAY UNITED 6 BURUD TOWN 2 - The 7th time is the charm. Gateway United got 5 scores from Donovan and Beckham to finally defeat the Stags and also put some distance between the 5th place club in the standings. The Stags are still in 4th place in the MCQ, but only be owning a better MOV than the Gunners. Both clubs have the same APG for MCQ. With only 5 games left, there is little room for error. BOXSCORE: Saints- Donovan(G A), Beckham(G G A), Nielsen(CS). Stags- Mattocks(1T Y), Pajoy(G).
-
ALLIANCE 4 SPARTANS 2 - There is one club that knows how to beat the Spartans. Alliance FC got a goal and assist from Alan Gordon to double up on New York and win both head to head matches in 2012. The win brings life to the Lions MCQ chances, but hurts the Spartans who fall 6 points behind 4th place in the BSL standings for the playoffs. BOXSCORE: Lions- Gordon(G A), Ching(G), Stephenson(A). Spartans- Koevermans(1T), S.Johnson(CS).
-
CD GUNNERS 4 SECOND CITY 1 - The Gunners continue the clubs 2nd half push and improved to 3-2-1 in MCQ. It might be to late for the BSL Champions to make the playoffs, but a possible title defense of the Majors Cup Championship is still in site. BOXSCORE: Gunners- Montero(G), Casey(A), Garcia(G A). Stars- B.Davis(G A -1LF), Joseph(Y), Beckerman(R).
