Gateway United vs Spartans 1612

Gateway United (BSL -7th place / MCQ -1st place) enter the weekend on top of the MCQ for good reason. The Saints are ranked 5th in offense for the season (1st in MCQ) and are starting to catch some breaks that were not caught earlier in the year. Sitting 9 points out of a BSL playoff spot, there is little room for error at the moment and every win is needed if the club is going to qualify for a 4th BSL playoff run. Spartans (BSL -4th place / MCQ -4th place) have matched the clubs win total of 8 wins from a year ago. Unless the club ties its last 9 matches, its a safe bet it will not repeat its 2012 record. Currently the Spartans have won 2 straight, but have won 6 of their last 7 games, only losing to Orange County in between. This should be a very good match.

Orange County vs Alliance

Orange County (BSL -2nd place / MCQ -3rd place) continues to keep the pressure on Alamo City for the Honors Trophy. The Zodiac have completed 2 straight successful comebacks entering this match and are on a 3 game winning streak. Alliance (BSL -11th place / MCQ -12th place) is struggling on a 7 game losing streak at the moment. The biggest problem has been lack of offensive pop. The club is last in scoring.

Capital District vs Pennsylvania

Capital District (BSL -10th place / MCQ -7th place) is coming off a huge win for the clubs Majors Cup aspirations in 2013. Five different players produced for the Gunners, making it the clubs best match of the season. Pennsylvania (BSL -12th place / MCQ -8th place) has tied with the Gunners 3 times in 6 meetings.

Alamo City vs Rose City

Alamo City (BSL -1st place / MCQ -2nd place) dodged a bullet last week against the Stars, but still posted an impressive 5 offensive points to highlight the win. The first place Battle still have a slim edge in the standings in the Honors Trophy race. The club could probably lock up a playoff position with a win over its opponent this weekend. At the moment Alamo City has a 12 point lead over the 5th place Flyers in the BSL standings. The Battle have won 4 straight since losing to Orange County in week 9. Rose City (BSL -5th place / MCQ -5th place) is one of the hottest teams in the league at the moment and is fighting for post season qualification in both the BSL and Majors Cup. This week will be a huge test for the Flyers going up against the leagues #1 offense. Rose City is on a 6 game unbeaten streak.

Burud Town vs Gold Coast

Burud Town (BSL - 3rd place / MCQ -6th place) is 1-0-2 in the clubs last 3 games. The Stags lead the 5th place Flyers by 5 points in the BSL standings. Gold Coast (BSL -9th place / MCQ -10th place) is on a 4 game losing streak. The club consistently has been scoring 2 points in its recent matches, but that has not been doing the job in terms of getting wins.

Union So.Cal vs Second City

Union SC (BSL -8th place / MCQ -11th place) enters on a 2 game losing streak including being shut out in week 12. Second City (BSL -6th place / MCQ -9th place) enters on a 3 game win-less run and needs to turn the momentum around to avoid falling any further behind the 4th place club in the BSL standings.

Alamo City 5 Second City 3

The Stars scored 8 points over the weekend, but only 3 points counted taking away what could have been a huge victory for the club. With a late line-up submission midway through the FC Dallas game, the Stars lost out on points from LeToux, Mapp, and Romero. The goal keeper, Fernandez, was allowed to keep his clean sheet (the 45 minute rule), but his saves total was shrunk with only a half of play. Alamo City wins the clubs 10th game of the season.

Rose City vs Burud Town

Burud Town (BSL -3rd place / MCQ -6th place) escaped last week with a late victory to maintain a hold of 3rd place in the BSL. This week will be a big test going up against one of the clubs chasing for its playoff position. Rose City (BSL -5th place / MCQ -4th place) is arguably the hottest team in the league at the moment and the club has risen in the standings to come within 3 points of the top 4.

Orange County vs Gold Coast

Orange County (BSL - 2nd place / MCQ - 3rd place) can win the clubs 10th win on the year in week 13. The clubs impressive inaugural season has the Zodiac a mere 1 point out of first place in the BSL table. Gold Coast (BSL -9th place / MCQ - 11th place) has lost 3 straight entering this match.

Union So.Cal vs Spartans 1612

Union SC (BSL -8th place / MCQ -7th place) enters the week losing some of the clubs recent momentum, but has played the NYS well in the past including 2 ties in the first 3 meetings. Spartans (BSL -4th place / MCQ -5th place) is one win away from matching last years total of 8.

Alamo City vs Second City

Alamo City (BSL -1st place / MCQ -2nd place) is looking primed for the playoffs with a 10 point advantage over the BSL's 5th place club. The clubs fight appears to be for the Honors Trophy which is being highly contested at the moment. Second City (BSL -6th place / MCQ -10th place) has fallen to the clubs lowest standing of the year in the BSL and could really use a full 3 points to gain back some ground this week. At the moment the Stars are 4 points behind the 4th place Spartans.

Gateway United vs Pennsylvania

Gateway United (BSL -7th place / MCQ -1st place) is coming off an impressive game propelling the club on top of Majors Cup qualifying. A push for the playoffs will have to begin now with the Saints sitting 8 points behind the current 4th place club. Pennsylvania (BSL -12th place / MCQ -8th place) looked good last Wednesday, before the clubs lead evaporated. A positive result will go a long way in the MCQ.

Alliance vs Capital District

Alliance (BSL -11th place / MCQ -9th place) will try and move up ahead of their opponent this week in the BSL standings. The club has lost 6 straight. Capital District (BSL -10th place / MCQ -12th place) is still looking to celebrate win #50 all-time in the BSL.

Burud Town 3 Alliance 2

One of the hottest players in the league the last few weeks, Lamar Neagle, gave the Lions a 2-1 lead to close out Saturday's action. For a while it looked as if Alliance was going to be able to hold on until Juninho scored a very late assist to tie the match. Then in the Sunday nightcap Javier Morales kicked in the game winner for Burud Town to grab a full 3 points in the standings for the Stags. Blas Perez received a red card in the match forcing Alliance to play a man down.

Alamo City 10 Gateway United 3

It was a record setting week for Alamo City. The Battle broke 2 records and tied another. Let's start with the 10 points the club scored. It breaks the record of 9 points held by the Union SC(2010) and the Spartans(2012) for most points in a BSL match. (Pennsylvania had 11 points in a Majors Cup game for best BSL club in the tourney, and FC Dallas had 12 points in a Majors Cup game if including MLS teams as well) the next record broke is the number of players to score in a match. Alamo City had 9 different players contribute to the scoreline. That's 9 of the 11 starters scoring. The Battle left a score on the bench as well if you can believe that. Lastly, the 13 total points ties the record for most combined points in a BSL game. (The record in a Majors Cup game is 16). The win also helps keep Alamo City in first place at the exact midway point of the 2013 season.

Union SoCal vs Gold Coast

Union SC (3-5-2 / 11 points) So it begins.... The first leg in the 4th annual California Cup derby is this week. Coming off a win and a tie in the clubs last 2 matches, the Blues are poised to bring home a good result against their biggest rivals and possibly the biggest rivalry in the BSL. Gold Coast (4-5-1 / 13 points) had its 4 game unbeaten streak snapped last week. The Suns lead in the all-time series against Union SC including a win in the Majors Cup semi-finals. Union SC has won 2 of the 3 California Cups.

Second City vs Burud Town

Second City (5-3-2 / 17 points) scored a huge victory last week keeping pace with the league leaders in the standings. This week the Stars have another big match-up and with another win, could make itself a major target to open the 2nd half of the season. Burud Town (6-2-2 / 20 points) is both the hunter and the hunted. The club currently sits in 3rd place and is within real striking distance to be in first place. But, the Stags are also being chased by the clubs behind them. Burud Town has never won against Second City.

Spartans 1612 vs Orange County

Spartans (6-3-1 / 19 points) enter week 11 on a 4 game winning streak and has scored 17 points in the clubs last 3 matches. The results have propelled the club into 4th place and rising. With 19 points in the table, the Spartans are now only 4 points down from the league leader. Orange County (7-2-1 / 22 points) could finish off the first half of this regular season in first place, or as far down as 4th place depending on how the results fair in week 11 involving all the leading BSL teams. Either way its been a strong first half for the new club. On a side note, with neither club having an alternate kit, fans will be seeing a lot of blue on the pitch in this one.

Gateway United vs Alamo City

Gateway United (3-5-2 / 11 points) comes into the week with the 5th ranked offense in the league. The clubs record since a horrid start has improved as well (2-1-2 in last 5 matches). Alamo City (7-1-2 / 23 points) has been flipping back and forth with Orange County for 1st place the last couple of weeks. Currently the club has a 2 point edge for the top spot and has the #2 ranked offense. Both clubs are 1-0-1 in the Founders Cup standings.

Alliance vs Pennsylvania

Alliance (3-7-0 / 9 points) will see the return of some of the clubs absent players in last weeks shutout. However, the offensive problems have gone beyond just one game. Currently the Lions are last in the league in scoring. Pennsylvania (1-8-1 / 4 points) have actually played better offensively since Robbie Keane went on the DL, but have not had the wins come yet. The Partnership has never lost to Alliance in 4 previous meetings.

Capital District vs Rose City

Capital District (2-5-3 / 9 points) will have the opportunity to become the first BSL club to win 50 regular season games all-time with a victory this week. Rose City (4-5-1 / 13 points) has scored 10 points in the clubs last 2 matches (both wins). This match features the last 2 BSL Cup champions.

Rose City 4 Pennsylvania 3

The Flyers jumped out early off a couple of Rosales scores to build a 2-0 lead, but also had 4 extra points wasting on the bench (2 from Luis Robles and 2 from Danny Cruz). The big moment of the match came when the Stoners received a red card from Yedlin. His departure allowed Cruz and his 2 scores to enter the match making it a 4-0 lead for the Flyers. Pennsylvania would then mount a comeback with 3 individual scores and a 4th from Mario Martinez waiting as the first sub. In the end the Flyers would not get a 2nd yellow card and escaped with a 4-3 win.
