Wayne Rooney's goal from halfway on the pitch helped propel the Saints to a 4-3 win over the Spartans in the 3rd qualifier for the Majors Cup. The result does little to change things for the Spartans who still won the East and will play the Houston Dynamo in Majors Cup quarter-finals. However, the win was huge for Gateway United as the club clinched 2nd place in the East and qualified for the tournament. It will be the 4th time the Saints have qualified. Gateway United will play Atlanta United in the quarter-finals.
