The match began with both clubs trading blows back and forth. Lodeiro and Morris each had braces for both sides, and Medina, Heber, each scored for both sides as well. The deadlock finally took a turn when Finlay scores a couple of goals, and then the moment of the match came when Badji was booked as the 2nd yellow card for the Saints. This allowed Pomykal to enter the match as the 1st substitute, with his 3 assists. Carlos Vela closed out the match with a hat trick. Angel Town advances to the clubs 2nd Majors Cup Final in club history with the hope of winning it all this time.
SPARTANS 10 ALAMO CITY 7
(Extratime)
Coming in as the favorite, and looking to win "the treble", Alamo City roared out the gates with a 2-0 lead on Thursday. Then, Darren Mattocks delivered a goal and Mueller an assist, and by early Saturday we had ourselves a fight. The Spartans continued to get scores from just about everywhere including defender - Ziegler, and 7 saves from Sean Johnson. Another huge goal came from Ebobisse since he put a dent in the outstanding performance laid out by Blanco in the Portland result. However, even with all the fight the Spartans were putting forth, the Alamo City offense was delivering on their end and had regained the lead and was sitting on top 7-6 with very little time left. Another big moment came when Zlatan was blanked, preventing the Battle from increasing their lead, and then Latif Blessing scores a huge game tying goal for the Spartans in the last match of the weekend to level the match at 7-7. In extra time, the Spartans got scores from McCarty and 2 goals from Baird, while the Alamo City bench was shut out. The upset was complete and the Spartans are advancing to the clubs 1st Majors Cup Final.
