GAME 14: Gateway Utd. and D.C.Forever continue second half push

BOXSCORES
On the score sheet, the 4th of July weekend conjured up the fewest offensive points in the leagues history. However, the results may prove to be catalysist for some teams playoff chances.
The weekends match of the week pinning BIGTIME's top two teams failed to determine a winner. Both teams managed to put up only half their scoring averages in what finished as a 2-2 tie. This result helps Capital District more as the team maintains its 5 point edge for first place with 6 games to go. Montgomery County has now posted 3 ties in its last 4 games.
Meanwhile Gateway United continues to rake in the points as the team is riding high after defeating Garden State 2-1. The Saints 8 league wins give tem the tie breaker over Union S.C. for third place in the standings.
If it wasn't for Gateway's winning streak, then D.C. Forever would be grabbing the spotlight. The team used a Pat Onstad clean sheet to edge out its own 2-1 victory over Union S.C. and move to within 3 points themselves of a playoff spot. D.C. is 3-0-1 in the second half of the season.
BIGTIME's highest scoring team for the week may come as a surprise as Motor City got contributions from 4 seperate players to end the teams 9 game winless streak. The victory gives Motor City 3 points in Majors Cup qualifying which is only 1 point short for the fourth qualifying spot.
