Monarchs and Gunners continue the fight off the field

There has been plenty of wheeling and dealing going on behind the scenes since the completion of this year's draft. Two of the BSL's top clubs have been trying to work their magic in the pursuit of signing the Costa Rican Forward, Alvaro Saborio.

It began a few days ago when both the C.D. Gunners and Montgomery County both were made aware of his potential arrival. Both clubs expressed there interest a mere hours apart. The problem was neither team could find sufficient proof that showed he was indeed coming to America. There were plenty of blogs and fan sites spitting out opinions. Finally, the Gunners won the battle when news was delivered on the "RSL to the Core" site.

Last years BSL Cup finalist appear to be battling for supremacy once again. On the field Montgomery County got the last laugh taking the 2009 Cup. This time its the Gunners that got the last laugh with Saborio. So what's in store when these two champions meet in the first NECC match? This is how rivals are made.

  1. Would it be considered "the first" NECC. I would think they already have had NECC games just did not have a name for it yet.

  2. Technically, the NECC starts this year. But you could use last year's series to retroactively see who would've won the NECC last year.

If I did it right, last year I would've won the NECC by with a record of 1-0-1. Apparently Monarchs and me only played twice last year.

  4. Good luck to all. It will be great to see what the first scores will be. I don't think anyone wants to lose the first game.

  5. Thanks MLS for letting me know Fred was suspended. No injury reports...might as well guess. The new MLS website is useless. You'd think they have it updated and fully functional for the new season. Unacceptable.

  6. There has got to be a fan site that gives better injury info. We just have to find it.

  7. I poke around the "Clubs" section on BigSoccer ... they fans of the clubs are usually better at being "up" on it than any "official sites.

  8. After doing some digging I have found that Foxsports.com has accurate boxscore stats. ESPN'S WEB SITE IS WRONG!!! Hopefully the new MLS site will get the kinks worked out. Until then I recommend Fox's.

Gateway now has 2 yellows meaning Roger Levesque has come into the game for Gold Coast. But he didn't score anything even though he had plenty of chances if you watched it on t.v. No yellows for Montgomery yet, so Evans goal remains wasted for Union S.C.

  13. Since I was given a team alias. I got one for Burud Town. The Stags. It has a lot of meanings, but it also means "secretative" or "spy" and since you guys call Burud the secretative club it fits.
