GAME 7: Some Streaks Extended While Others Ended

BOXSCORES
The "Game of the Week" featuring the BSL's top two offenses did not go down how it was expected. Infact, few would have imagined that Union S.C. would fail to score a single point in the entire match. Some of the predictions did come true. St. Louis had the opportunity to score first and took advantage on Thursday. The Cure scored on Robbie Findley's first goal fo the season. Then added to the lead with two Javier Morales assists. The 3-0 lead going into Saturday would prove to be more than enough as Union S.C. struggled up and down its lineup. The only player on the Blues roster to put up a point was on the bench. The shutout is the clubs first since game 15 of 2009. Meanwhile, St. Louis remains unbeaten on the season and has further command of first place.
Moving into 2nd place in the standings in Capital District. That's because the Gunners have won gone unbeaten in 5 games after defeating New York 4-1 this weekend. The Gunners took an early lead on Wednesday with 2 goals from Saborio. He almost had a hat trick hitting the post just before leaving the match. The Greeks cut the lead in half when Atiba Harris scored an assist in the first match of Saturday. But, that was all the leagues #8 offense could muster. The Gunners added some insurance with McBrides score and a late Montero goal.

Burud Town ended its 2 game losing skid defeating Gateway United in game 7. The Stags scored first off a Brad Davis assist. Gateway United equalized off a Cunningham assist. Then Kamara too over with 2 goals and Hesmer added a clean sheet. The Saints responded with a Marco Pappa assist. The game ended with Burud Town winning 4-2.
It wasn't pretty, but Montgomery County ended its 5 game losing streak and got its first win since opening day. Gold Coast took and early lead on Wednesday when Kyle Beckerman scored an assist. The Monarchs equalized when Kasey Keller recorded a rare shutout for him this season. The score remained 1-1 for much of the day until Schelotto was given a penalty pick in the 90th minute of his match. This PK goal was the difference and the Monarchs are out of last place winning 2-1.

  2. By the way this is I think the 3rd player that lots of teams have gone gaga over. If my count is right

    Gunners got Saborio
    B-Town got Ngwenya
    Montgomery got Henry

All EAST COAST time zone. We might have to come up with a way to give west coast time zone a chance.

  3. This is easily the best weekend of the season for the Monarchs.

Henry ... and finally off the skids.

I agree though Commish, we need to look into some form of making this kind of thing more of a fair process. I'm open to that discussion.

  4. what about something like the allocation order in MLS? maybe the player is announced to be available, the worst team in the league gets first dibs, but they have to drop a player of a certain quality. idk, stream-of-consciousness.
