GAME 8: After the Cure, Its a Real Tight Race

BOXSCORES
The BSL Standings really tightened up after this weeks results. The differential seperating second place and fifth place is only 1 point. In the "Game of the Week", Burud Town got off to an early start with a goal and assist from Gaven on Thursday. This 2-0 lead would be all the offense the Stags got and needed as Capital District was only able to fight back with a Saborio assist. The 2-1 win is Burud Town's 2nd victory over the Gunners this season. The Stags also had 4 yellow cards, but the Gunners were unable to take advantage with the 2 extra players.
St. Louis once again was the league's top scorer of the week. Lead by 2 assists from Luis Landin and then accompanied with goals by Espindola and Barrett, the Cure built up a lead that Montgomery County had no answer for. The Monarchs avoided being shut out when Schelotto tapped in an assist on Sunday even though they were allowed to use 2 substitute players thanks to 4 yellow cards by the Cure. St. Louis is now 7-0-1 to start the season and has an amazing 9 point edge over 2nd place in the BSL.
The New York Greeks and Gateway United played themselves to a 1-1 draw. Neither club was able to mount much of an attack. The Saints filled their roster with 3 Columbus players, and even with the Crew playing twice, none of them was able to score.
The best match of game 8 was between Union S.C. and Gold Coast F.C. The scoring started with a Mike Magee goal on Thursday and the Blues equalized off a Donovan Ricketts clean sheet. Then on Saturday, Union S.C. took its first lead with Wondolowski's goal. The Suns fought back when Dominic Oduro scored a goal of his own. Then Justin Braun broke the deadlock with what could be the goal of the week. Gold Coast would hang on to the lead and win 3-2. The loss is the Blues 3rd in a row after having a 4 game win streak.
