GAME 10: Cure Stay Undefeated Through First Half of Season

BOXSCORES
It is quite possible that the match up between St. Louis and Capital District could come up in the playoffs. If it does we could be in for a great post season. In game 10, these two clubs squared off and traded punches every step of the way. Capital District opened the scoring with a JPA goal. St. Louis equalized on Wednesday night with a Bobby Convey assist. Then on Saturday both clubs traded clean sheets and the score remained tied at 2-2. The Cure took the lead when Brek Shea scored a brace in his game. The lead was built up to 5-2 when Patrick Nyarko added an assist. The Gunners fought back with Fredy Montero's goal and assist, but the clock ran out and the Cure survived to stay undefeated.
Gateway United got a much need boost this weekend. The club got scores from 3 seperate players to defeat Gold Coast 3-1. The Sun's took the lead in this one when Brian Ching had a goal on Wednesday, but the rest of the offense failed to score for the rest of the week.
Burud Town is on a roll. The Stags got their 4th straight win after defeating New York 5-1. The game was never in doubt once Burud Town got a whole slew of points from their L.A. Galaxy players. Michael Stephens had 3 assists all on his own and Bowen added in a goal. The Greeks, last in league offense only managed a clean sheet from Nick Rimando.
For the third time in their 5 meetings, Union S.C. and Montgomery County fought to a tie. It seems regardless of record, regardless of trends, when these two clubs get together its going to be a close and contested battle. The game was tied 1-1 on Wednesday when GBS and Wondolowski scored respectively for their clubs. Then Husidic and LeToux each scored and the game remained tied. The Monarchs took a short lead off a Ferreira assist. In the nightcap Union S.C. got a goal and assist from Steve Zakuani and was waiting for the clock to end and someone to score against Seattle to claim the clubs first ever win over Montgomery. However, Keller would indeed perserve a shut out for Seattle and in return salvaged a point for the Monarchs.

  1. St. Louis has 6 straight wins. A new record. (Old record by CDG- 5 straight wins)

St.Louis can tie the record for unbeaten streak next game with a win or tie. (11- MCFC/CDG)

Keep an eye on Burud Town's 4 game win streak as well.

  3. What makes it worse is that Angel had a goal waved off for being offside and Montero had an assist taken away on the first Sounders goal.

If Cummings could hit the broad side of a barn from 5 feet away I'd have beaten the Commish :(

  7. Anyone want to play a friendly using Wednesday & Thursday's games?

  8. Ok, cool.

How many players do you have playing? I have 6 but I think only 5 are going to end up playing.

  9. Wait its not going to work. I just don't have enough players to make it manageable. I count 2 at best who will be playing. Sorry. Perhaps a friendly the next time there is a break.

  10. Whoever has enough players could always play against an MLS roster. (Majors Cup practice) Just bee sure you have enough players on the pitch :)

  11. Thanks for the idea Gateway. I was going to go with the intra-squad scrimmage, but I like your idea better.

Also if anyone was thinking of doing something like this, since I don't have enough players for a full team, I'm picking players that aren't on anyone's roster (I believe) and having them fill in the holes.

  12. I've got 5 guys going if my count is right ... (6 if a recent pick up magically appears)

We can have an NECC shoot around if you'd like
