Union SC Has the Right Stuff to Win it All!

The 2010 BSL Final was a blowout and once again it was the underdog that came away with the trophy. The match started on a Wednesday with Union S.C. striking quickly off a Chris Wondolowski goal. The game continued on Thursday where the drama began to unfold. In what looked like the play of the game before the match got out of hand, Brek Shea was booted out after receiving a Red Card. The result not only forced the St. Louis Cure to play a man down, but allowed Union S.C. to have Eric Alexander come in off the bench. The result was a goal and assist from the rookie and the Blues had a 3-0 lead. The weekend arrived and the Cure's Salt Lake firepower failed to put up a score in the early afternoon. It was beginning to look bleak for the Cure. Meanwhile, Union S.C. began to really pull away as Steve Zakuani, Conor Casey, and Dwayne DeRosario added in more points The lead had grown to 7-0. St. Louis avoided becoming the 2nd straight Honors Trophy winner to be shutout in the Final when Jimmy Neilsen recorded a clean sheet for the Cure on Sunday. The final score 7-1. Union Southern California is the 2010 BSL Champions! The 2010 Honors Trophy winner is denied "The Double".
