Obafemi Martins is in High Demand

CLUBS INVOLVED (12):
Gold Coast, Gateway United, Union SC, Burud Town,
Alamo City, Spartans 1612, Second City, Alliance,
Orange County, CD Gunners, Pennsylvania, Rose City.

For the first time in league history, all 12 teams will be involved in a bidding war. It could have something to do with all the rumors that have circulated regarding Martins. He was a discussion before the BSL draft, then a discussion during the draft, and now up for bidding before week 3, which is the earliest bidding in league history as well. As customary this early in the season, only 2012 player stats will be what counts for bidding value. Also no goal keepers may be used in this bidding war. To accommodate the number of clubs involved, the deadline for Martins has been set for Wednesday 3/13 at 5pm (PDT). Any comments placed on this post after 5pm will not count.

  1. Let's get this party started...

Gabe Farfan in 2012: 1 point, 1960 minutes.

  2. 2012 stats?! Good thing I dropped Josh Saunders...

  3. Previous year stats were done before so I get that... but can we at least start putting some of these things in the Rules page? It seems like every week there's a new rule I hadn't heard of before. Now we can't use goalkeepers all of a sudden either.

    Sherjill MacDonald - 8 pts, 1033 mins

  6. I added some rules during the off season that are in the RULES tab. Please review this tab if you have not visited is in a while. Some that come to mind are... the transparency rule forcing clubs to post the transactions... also line-up failure rule was updated... and a few others that I can't remember at the moment. Its all there. enjoy.

Here is the clip on this subject.

    Day Two: The Bidding War
The league website will place a post for the
bidding war. The post will make the rest of
the league aware of this situation and give
the prospective teams in the bidding war a
place to begin their bidding. The club
releasing the best statistical player at
the end of the time slot gets the New player.
The bidding must be done in the comments of
this specific post. Any comments placed posted
    deadline will not count.
You may bid/comment on which existing roster
player you want to release in exchange for
this new player as much as you'd like during
the bidding war. You can offer to release
only 1 player at a time and are merely just
changing your mind, or upping the bid over
someone else's released player choice. If a
bidding war is done before week 8, the previous
years player stats will be used and goal keeper
will be excluded as well until after week 8

Some rules were changed because they were unfair or abused in previous seasons.

    1. is the rule that the player released must be on your roster for two weeks still in effect? For example, am I allowed to bid Boswell even though he has only been on my roster for 1 week. (I assume we are not allowed to pick up a player and just bid him immediately)

    2. I'd say no. The only way I can think that the two week rule is waived is if the season hasn't reached Week 2.

  10. No offense, are you judging the league sites rules tab when you haven't updated your 7-9-2 record on top of your site in half a year. Seems a bit mean spirited.

  11. no offense taken, but im sure you would agree that having the rules read correctly is slightly more integral to the league then the header on my club website. id be lying if i didnt draft troy perkins exclusively to take advantage of this situation.

  15. You guys all want him badly apparently. You'll get most of a season, I suppose, but he won't be good till week five at least, just my guessing. I don't have anybody on the roster with 14 points from last season so I'm out. I'd just hoping no one had noticed he'd been actually confirmed.

  16. It's a big signing, but I would rather have a graham zusi (or a Sair sene) than take the obafemi risk at this point.

  17. Alliance, help a Revs fan out:
MacDonald and Bover for Rowe and Toja?

  22. Bidding is closed. Martins signed by Alamo City.

24 hour waiver period on Patrice Bernier has begun.

FYI...Union SC will be involved in the bidding for him.

  23. The Zodiac will be bidding for Bernier as well

  24. offering Convey 3 pts 989 mins for Bernier

  25. We're interested in Bernier, as well... do we have to wait for the 24 hour waiver period to be over to bid?

    1. Yes. We need to allow all clubs the chance to make their decisions.
