After trailing 4-2 late in the match, Carlos Vela's hat-trick propelled Angel Town to victory. Gold Coast started strong when Gyasi Zardes pounded in a couple of goals. The Stars countered to level the match at 2-2 including more stellar goal keeping from 2-time BSL goal keeper of the year, Tim Melia. Josef Martinez broke the tie, and Roland Lamah added what looked like insurance. Then, Vela took over and played a full 90 to give Angel Town the big 3 points.
