The Spartans improved to 2-0-0 in the East group of the Majors Cup qualifiers to clinch advancement into the big tournament in late August. This will be the 2nd time the Spartans will be in the tournament with the only other year being in 2013. Maxi Urruti was the man of the match with a huge brace that really gave the club some momentum to start this match. On the other side, the reigning Majors Cup champs were eliminated and will be playing spoiler in the 3rd qualifier.  This is huge news in the history of the Majors Cup as the Gunners have been in 9 of the 10 tournaments so far (having only missed the tournament in 2010 previously). This eliminated ends the clubs 8 straight years of qualifying.
