The 12th annual Majors Cup tournament will be expanding to 16 teams in 2020. Unlike the customary 4 BSL and 4 MLS clubs competing, the elimination tournament will be 8 BSL and 8 MLS clubs this year. The expansion allows for more BSL operators to qualify, and therefore gives more opportunities for a second chance to the season. The Majors Cup gives hope to operators who struggle early in the season, and keeps engagement optimal in those later weeks when perhaps some clubs have less to play for. With more clubs qualifying, there is added incentive to rebuild a struggling squad to compete in the later months.
