GAME 5: New Acquistions Play Big Roles with their New Clubs

BOXSCORES
The "Game of the Week" between Union S.C. and Burud Town was highlighted by 2 red cards. The scoring began when Schilawski netted his 4th goal of the season and gave the Stags a 1-0 lead. Dube had a assist on the bench for Burud Town and Perovic got a yellow card and then Dube got tossed from the match completely with the games first red. Sasha Kljestan equalized for the Blues and then more cards started flying. Davey Arnaud got tossed and both clubs were a man short. With Arnaud out, Eddie Gaven was subbed in for the Stags and had his assist count giving Burud Town a 2-1 lead. While Ibrahim was the first sub in line for the Blues, his goal would still not count as Dube was on the bench and his red card had minimal cost. Union S.C. would find more offense as Steve Zakuani scored a goal for the second week in a row and then DeRosario's PK gave the Blues their first lead. New free agent signing Wondolowski got an insurance goal and the Blues won a wild one 4-2. The win is the fourth straight for Union S.C. after an opening day loss. Its the longest winning streak in Union S.C. history.
Coming off the clubs worst offensive game of the season, St. Louis erupted for the weeks high score with 7 points. The Cure took the lead early with a Dane Richards assist and the clubs owner really struck paydirt with another new signing when Luis Landin scored a goal and assist. It seems whatever St. Louis touches comes up roses. Gold Coast F.C. fought back bravely and was in the match all the way. Dominic Oduro has 2 assists and Dax McCarty added another one. Pat Onstad's clean sheet put in a 4th score. By the later part of the game the score was tied 4-4. Then the Suns had to watch as Edson Buddle did it again with another 3 points getting 2 goals and an assist. The 7-4 win keeps the Cure undefeated and in first place. It's a tough loss to swallow for Gold Coast as the club played well.
In the battle between two teams struggling to score, New York struck first. Joel Lindpere's assist gave the Greeks an early 1-0 lead. The club expanded the lead when Atiba Harris scored a goal. It would prove to be the game winner as once against the defending champs could not get it going on the field. Infact, the Monarchs produced more yellow cards than points. New addition Husidic produced Montgomery County a goal, but the clubs core once again was blanked. New York got another score from Fred and left a goal and assist from Andy Williams in the reserves. The win is the Greeks first win in BSL club history and moves them out of last place.
Two playoff clubs from last year meet up this weekend. The scoring started fast when Angel gave the Gunners a quick 2-0 lead. Gateway United scored later when Coundoul recorded a clean sheet from that same game. Marco Pappa tied it up 2-2 with his assist, but then the Gunners reclaimed the lead off a Saborio assist of his own. The Saints fought back again when Lenhart (now in green kit) scored another equalizer for the Saints 3-3. The score remained tied once again at 4-4 when Montero and Ljundberg traded scores. Capital District broke free again off a Ryan Johnson assist, but the Saints just refused to loss this game once again finding the equalizer when Landon Donovan added an assist in the nightcap. After several ties all game long the final ends in a 5-5 tie. Great match between two great clubs of the BSL. The Gunners extend their unbeaten streak to 3 games and the Saints have their 2nd tie in as many games.

Doesn't Montano have to be with Burud for a full gameweek before being released ?

  3. No, you and add/release any free agent you want as long as you don't go over your 14-man roster space.
