POWER RANKINGS: Week 5

ATTACHMENT
Scoring for the league as a whole was back up in week 5. With the first quarter of the season done, scoring for the BSL is up a full point at 6.45 a game/129 total points, compared to the first quarter of 2009 when the league averaged 5.45 a game/109 total points. After two straight weeks where Union S.C. lead the gameday in scoring, St. Louis reclaimed the honor again. The Cure increased their APG back to 5.00 on the season and also reclaimed the #1 offense in the BSL. Therefore, the Cure are back on top in the power rankings. A close 2nd is Union S.C. as the club continues to ride a wave of wins. Injuries are starting to hit the Blues, but team depth is paying dividends. Moving up slowly but surely each week, The C.D. Gunners are now 3rd in the ranks. The club that owned the #1 position in 2009 for most of that year is working its way back up. On the opposite side of the spectrum, Montgomery County is now at the bottom. Who would have thought that playing the defending champions would be considered the easy game on the schedule. The whole basis of the power rankings is to determine who is considered the toughest current opponent on your schedule and where the easiest potential win will come from. Well the stats and trends are not kind to the Monarchs. Another bad quarter and Majors Cup qualifying may be the only agenda that Montgomery County will have to play for.
