GAME 9: Lot's of Contributions Left on Club Benches

BOXSCORES
The next installment of the Show Me Cup did not live up to expectations. Even though both clubs were short players with the World Cup on 2 weeks away, there was still plenty of talent on the field. The match started with Gateway United firing blanks very early. The clubs big guns played on Thursday and performed poorly on national television. Cunningham had very few touches and Pappa's few scoring chances came from corner kicks. On Saturday the Cure opened the scoring when Chad Barrett mussled in a goal. It would prove to be the game winner. Espindola and Convey increased the lead for the Cure as the Saints only managed to pick up yellow cards throughout the day. The lone bright spot for the Saints was Danny Mwanga's goal and assist on the bench. The Cure are now 8-0-1 on the season.
Union S.C. loves playing New York. For the 2nd time this season the Blues put up 7 points against the Greeks. The scoring could have been even more as Davey Arnaud's assist was taken away with his red card ejection. LeToux also had a goal and assist on the bench. The win ends a 3-game losng streak for Union S.C.
Montgomery County has been struggling to score points since game 1 of the season and game 9 was no different. The match started off well enough when David Ferreira scored a goal on Thursday to give the Monarchs a 1-0 lead. However, that was all the champions would score. Burud Town's offense took over for the rest of the game with 2 assist from Brad Davis and a couple of goals from Perovic and Bowen to give the Stags their 3rd straight win. Every player on the Burud Town bench had a goal.
Last time the Suns and Gunners played each other it ended in a 1 point win for the Gunners. Well history repeated itself in their 2nd leg only with more points scored. Brian McBride began the scoring with a goal on Thursday. Then Angel and Birchall chipped in to give the Gunners a 3-0 lead. Justin Braun's goal and assist brought the Suns back in the game. Saborio scored the Gunners 4th point and Ching made it close with a goal of his own. Zach Thorton had a rough night including a red card ejection. The card did not effect the outcome of the game as Mykel Galindo was placed as the 2nd sub for Gold Coast and his goal did not count.
