WEEK 13: Leaders Don't Stumble After Long Break

SPARTANS 3 GATEWAY UNITED 3 - With the Spartans only trailing Gateway United by the slimmiest of margins in the BSL standings for 4th place, this important match up was worth the spotlight. The Saints opened the scoring with a Chiumiento assist, before New York equalized with a Meyers assist. Zusi gave the Spartans a short 2-1 lead before Nielsen's clean sheet tied it up again at 2-2. On Sunday the Spartans took the lead again when Grazzini scored, but Beckham came through late to tie up the score for a third time. The result is a record tieing 6th draw for the Spartans. With 9 matches still on the schedule, it seems possible the record could be broken. BOXSCORE: Spartans- Myers(A), Zusi(A), Grazzini(A). Saints-Chiumiento(A), Nielsen(CS), Beckham(A).

ALAMO CITY 4 KC QUEST 1 - The Battle kept pace with the BSL Standings leaders and also improved to 2-0-0 in MCQ after easily defeating the Quest. Alamo City scored early and spread the wealth around as several players contributed to the scoreline including 5 saves from Kevin Hartman. The Quest continue to struggle and were not helped by a line up failure. BOXSCORE: Battle-E.Johnson(G Y), Boskovic(A), Martins(G), Hartman(SP). Quest- Pontius(G -1LF), McCarty(G), Bunbury(Y).

ROSE CITY 2 UNION SC 1 - The Flyers got goals from Moffat and Sapong to defeat the Blues and keep pace with Pennsylvania in the BSL leader board. The only offense Union SC could muster after the long break was 7 saves from Matt Pickens. BOXSCORE: Flyers-Moffat(G), Sapong(G). Blues-Pickens(SP), Chara(Y), R.Johnson(Y).

ALLIANCE 3 GOLD COAST 1 - The Lions got a much need 3 points highlighted by a stellar performance from Joe Cannon who had a clean sheet and 5 saves. The Lions remain unbeaten all-time against the Gold Coast. BOXSCORE: Lions- Neagle(G), Cannon(CS SP), Najar(Y). Suns-Reis(CS).

PENNSYLVANIA 4 CD GUNNERS 1 - The first place Stoners used 2 Fabian Espindola goals to put away the defending champs and also improve to 2-0-0 in MCQ as wellBOXSCORE: Stoners- LeToux(G), Bruin(G), Espindola(G G), Castillo(Y). Gunners-Montero(A Y), Saborio(Y).

SECOND CITY 6 BURUD TOWN 1 - The Stars erupted for the weeks best 6 points putting an end to the Stags 4 game unbeaten streak. The story in this game was all the cards handed out to Burud Town. Mattocks red card allowed Beckerman to enter the match and score 2 assist. 3 more yellow cards were handed out to the Stags, allowing Agudelo to enter the game for Second City as well. Playing a man down and allowing 2 subs to play is going to be a recipe for disaster for even the strongest of teams. BOXSCORE: Stars- Oduro(A Y), Nyarko(G A), Rimando(CS), Beckerman(A A). Stags- Hamid(CS Y), Mattocks(R), Moreno(Y), Richards(Y).
