2012 BSL Cup Final Preview

It's down to two clubs. The winner will be crowned the BSL Champions for 2012. Both Pennsylvania and Rose City are coming off quite convincing Semi-Final victories. It's quite a story.

A year ago Pennsylvania had a great 11-7-2 record, but missed the playoffs and had to settle for 5th place. A year later, the Stoners improved on the clubs record, and now have advanced to the Championship. Maybe two heads are better than one? Pennsylvania is the only BSL club operated by more than one owner. This Partenership made the right choice to protect Robbie Keane as a DP. LeToux was also a DP, but did not have the same impact. The Stoners also made the bold move to trade away its 3rd round pick to Alamo City to obtain the rights to Kei Kamara, who was a steady contributor all year and in the Semi-Finals as well. Besides making good moves before the draft, Pennsylvania made good choices in the free agent market too. For example Sherjill MacDonald has been a key player since joining the club.

On the other side, is the first year club Rose City who had no prior roster to work with. No Designated Players and 10th in the draft order. Just an aggressive owner, who also happens to be to only female operator in the league. Rose City made the maximum allowed two trades before the draft, picking up Alejandro Moreno and CJ Sapong. Moreno isn't even on the roster anymore, but that didn't stop the owner from making the needed improvements. The Flyers also maximized its 1 pick from the unprotected list by picking up the Semi-Finals hero Mauro Rosales. In the draft, Rose City scored big getting Marvin Chavez at #58 in the 5th round, who has had a huge impact in several matches. In free Agency, the newcomer snagged Marco DiVaio in a bidding war.

In head to head games this season Pennsylvania won both including an 8-0 thrashing in week 7, then a 3-2 win in week 12.

ALL-TIME VERSUS: Stoners lead 2-0-0. SCORING HISTORY: Stoners lead 11-2. PLAYOFF HISTORY: Stoners 1-0 record / Flyers 1-0 record.
