Club Deadlines Only A Few Weeks Away

With the month of February arriving, so does the league's reminder that we are now only weeks away from another BSL Draft. This years draft could be the most exciting with the new expanded rosters. Who will be the first defender drafted? Who will be the first Goal Keeper and so forth? 2013 will be the first season allowing BSL owners to field a full 11 starting players with a total of 15 players. What formation will each club field? Who will have the deepest line-up?

Several club owners have already been involved in trade, draft pick swaps, and Designated Player selections. You can read about it on their official club sites on the BSL Network.

In a little more than 2 weeks the Designated Player deadline on February 18th will hit. Any BSL club late on making their selections will forfeit their right to keep any players on their roster from last season. Immediately following the DP deadline, the new Orange County club will have permission to select 1 player off any BSL unprotected roster. This new club Pre-Draft Selection deadline is February 19th. This will be followed by the official Draft starting 7am (Pacific time) on February 20th with Second City SC owning the first pick. You can view the drafts progress through the entire selection process on the TRANSACTION tab of the league website. Please see the RULES tab for any draft questions.

A reminder that any BSL owner that goes over 2 hours to make a selection, once emailed their turn, will be skipped. If you receive an email after 6pm (Pacific time), 9pm (Eastern), the clock is paused. Official draft hours are 7am-6pm (Pacific time) Monday thru Friday. On a weekend the clock is off too. You might receive an email after hours notifying you that you are next, but the clock has stopped and you are not obligated to respond after hours. The goal is to complete the maximum 14 rounds (some clubs have less rounds) in about 5 to  6 days.

  1. I was thinking.... what if Majors Cup was expanded to include Mexican clubs. So its all of North America. US/Canada/Mex

  2. ^ Not a bad idea.

Also, Eddie Johnson is actively being shopped.

  3. I'm for it, but the question becomes who would be replaced? The Supporters Shield winner?

    1. To work, it would have to be expanded by a week and have a group of mexican clubs added. Probably something like this....... 4 groups of 4 clubs (16 TOTAL CLUBS), then a quarterfinal(8 clubs), semi-final(4 clubs), final(2 clubs).

Have to be more than 4 BSL clubs qualifying too, to help average out 16 slots.

    2. Or an alternative could be to have the winner of the Liga MX Clausura replace the Supporters Shield. This way we have the two league winners and the two tournament winners/runners up.

  4. Would it be possible to privately share an email list? It's a pain to have to follow trade negotiations in comments across multiple sites. Plus, we could all benefit from making our negotiations private.
