Phoenix Sky vs Gateway United
ON TAP
Do these clubs have anything left in the gas tank? The players have to be tired right? Well there is no rest as the action is coming quick. Let's start with Las Vegas. The Valley threw everything into its come-from-behind win to advance, but lost a few starters to card accumulation. This is the first Majors Cup Semifinals in the clubs history. Meanwhile, Angel Town is in the Semifinals for a third straight year, and will try to advance for a third straight time as well. Gateway United returns for a 4th Majors Cup Semi's in club history. The club is averaging 8 points in the tournament so far, and is the highest ranked of the remaining contenders. The Phoenix Sky just keep advancing in the clubs first MCT. So far the Sky have taken out Royal Oak, the Columbus Crew, and Apollo in the tournament. Can this 2 year old club, that started in the play-in round, advance all the way to the Final?

I feel like I already won. lol
ReplyDeleteIt's not over yet :)

ReplyDeleteBig wins will do that. But it is not over yet until my club is surrounded by confetti.
Challenge accepted Gateway.
DeleteHey anyone else excited by the expanded champions league news / League cup news? Can this be incorporated in the BSL?
ReplyDeleteMajors Cup already is a carbon copy of Leagues Cup. Except instead of being LMX vs MLS, its BSL vs MLS.
DeleteYes, but Leagues Cup lead to Championship league for the whole region. So Majors Cup could lead to a larger region?
DeleteJust my 2 cents here. If you are trying to copy then this is the full copy. Move Majors Cup to the middle of the season, and have the top tournament clubs qualify for the BSL version of champions league. Plus you have to have BSL cup champion, honors champion automatically qualify and get a first round bye. That is the closest to copying what what announced today.
DeleteI really like the sound of Majors Cup being in the middle of the season.
DeleteThe tricky part is gathering the stats on other pro leagues. They never show secondary assists.
ReplyDeleteWe could have the region tournament NOT include secondary assists. This will make for level play.
DeleteThink about this we could have.....
ReplyDeleteTOP 4 MAJORS CUP FINISHERS + BSL CHAMP + HONORS CHAMP. = 6 BSL CLUBS.
LARGER REGION CUP ROUND ONE - the 4 MAJORS CUP top CLUBS (BSL or MLS) plus 8 Prem/bundesliga/laliga etc clubs. = 12 total
ROUND TWO - 6 Advancing clubs + BSL champ and honors champ who had a bye. = 8 total
SEMI FINAL
FINAL
BSL guaranteed 2 clubs. and depending on how majors cup goes that year could get up to 6 clubs. or a mix of BSL/MLS clubs in the outer region cup.
The Majors Cup champion should get a 1st round bye too.

Majors Cup - 3rd place (BSL or MLS)
International 1
International 2
International 3

I would like to add there could be a 3rd place game the same week as the Majors final with only the top 3 Majors qualifying. Anyone big match to play if only 3 qualify.
ReplyDeleteAlso "all BSL" clubs would have to qualify/play in Majors Cup. (No more qualifying if you play in middle of the season)
ReplyDeleteI agree.
ReplyDeleteSo who wants to give this a test run?
And which non-mls clubs do you want to play?
ReplyDeleteyes please
ReplyDeleteIn
ReplyDeleteMe too
ReplyDeleteHeck yeah! When does it start.
ReplyDeleteIf we are doing this without secondary assists.... then updating Majors Cup will come to and we can add Liga MX finally.
ReplyDeleteI want to do a test run this season. Iron out any kinks. No qualifying this season. Just whoever wants in for this one by the end of the week. Can start it 10/16.
ReplyDeleteI want in. thanks
