GAME 17: Gunners clinch playoff spot, Saints clinch Majors spot

BOXSCORES
This weeks games did not disappoint. Winning their first game in over a month, Montgomery County lead all teams with 6 points defeating Union S.C. and reclaiming third place in the standings. The Monarchs took an early lead on Friday with 2 goals from Movsisyan, then expanded that lead to 3-0 when Keller posted a shutout Saturday afternoon. The Blues were unable to mount a comeback as several of the teams scorers were accompanied by scores from Montgomery's players in the very same MLS games.
Clinching the first playoff spot is Capital District. The Gunners needed a goal and assist from Jason Garey to come from behind and secure a 4-3 win over Gaitherburg City. One more victory and Capital District will win the Honors Trophy and be guaranteed a place in the Bigtime Cup Championship Game.
The shocker of the week comes from D.C. Forever, as the teams entire roster blanked. Garden State's goal from Robbie Findley held up and gave the Kickers an all important 1-0 win. With 9 points in Majors Cup qualifying, the Kickers are holding onto fourth place. D.C. Forever is now slightly behind Montgomery County in the playoff race.
Gateway United is the first team to clinch a place in Majors Cup play and is looking good for a playoff spot as well thanks to another brilliant victory. The Saints 5-1 win makes them unbeaten in their last 8 games with 7 of those games being wins.

  2. They took away Morales' assist, but luckily I grabbed Garey. I'm also glad the Gold Cup will finally be over and I get Holden and Clark back.

    Time to win some hardware.

  3. Atleast I didn't play Montgomery this week. I would have lost 6-5 :) Looking forward to playing him next.
