The Majors Cup is poised to reach new heights now that 16 teams participate. This post season event was already a big favorite in BSL circles with some saying it's the highlight of their season. BSL clubs have won 10 of 11 of the championships, and while some MLS clubs came real close to winning the prize, will the BSL's reign continue?
THE TEAMS
Angel Town enters as the tournaments defending champions. The Stars qualified with a 5-3-0 record in 2020, but is suffering from the injuries from big names like Vela and Heber. Can the rest of the lineup pick up the slack?
The Cardinals enter as the BSL's #1 seed. It's a big step up from not qualifying last year. The pressure is always on the Honors Champions to perform against MLS.
The Spartans return to the Majors Cup again. Last year, the club was the runner-up in the tournament. This time the squad is bolstered with new faces like Chicharito.
Century debuts to the Majors Cup having qualified on the final week as the 8th seed. It's still a huge accomplishment in an inaugural season.
Gateway United is back for another run. The Saints are one of the BSL's elite, and have won this tournament in 2016. This year the club enters having placed first in the Eastern Conference.
Western Wolves debut as the other BSL expansion team to have qualified. Another impressive feat! The Wolves finished 3-3-2 in the regular season, and should represent the league well.
Capital District returns to the tournament for the 10th time having missed qualification last year. The Gunners have more wins in the Majors Cup than any other club with 21. The club has won the Majors Cup 4 times, and oh by the way is the current BSL Champions this season.
Gold Coast is back in the Majors Cup for the first time in 5 years! The Suns had a great 2020, and Majors Cup could be a great chance to win a title this year, after being the runner up in both the Honors and BSL Cup the last few weeks. Gold Coast won the Majors Cup in 2010.
